Can I purchase the Flash source code?
Yes. We do license non-exclusive rights to use the source code for our game engines. If you are licensing an existing game, you can license the rights to publish the Flash game (.swf) game on your site or you can license the rights to use the Flash source file to create new, unique games with different art, audio, and other customizations. Please see our Licensing page for more information.

If I license the source code from you, is there a site limit or a time limit for the license?
No. You can use the source code to generate any number of games for any number of sites for as long as you want. However, you may not re-license the source code to someone else. Eyeland Studio retains full ownership of the original game engine. You may sell the output or .swf file to your clients, but you may not resell the source code. You also may not offer the games as free downloads such that people can later publish the on their site (or in any other medium) for free and/or without licensing the games. You can, however license the games and later sell or distribute the output of the games--the .swf files. For example, if you are an ad agency and you wish to license games that you will customize for several clients, then you can do that. However, if you want to create a site where people can download the games for free so that they can later publish the games on their site site without having licensed the games you will not be able to do that under the standard license agreement.

Do you do custom animation, audio, and graphic design for your games?
Yes, Eyeland Studio can assist you with everything from game design, writing, animation, audio, and graphic design. Conversely we are happy to work with an internal or 3rd part design agency if you prefer to supply your own media for the games.

Do I need Macromedia Flash to customize the games?
Yes, all of the games are in Macromedia Flash format (.fla). Most games are compatible with Macromedia Flash 6, 7, 8, and CS3. We do have some games that are compatible with Flash version 5. The games are not compatible with Macromedia Flash 4 or earlier versions of Flash.

What is "component-based"? What is a component?
Macromedia introduced components as a new feature to Macromedia Flash 5 and later upgraded it in Macromedia Flash MX (also known as Flash 6). They are similar, in many respects, to a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop or a macro for programs like Microsoft Word. Essentially a component allows you to make modifications to the game's code without forcing you to actually delve into into the actual code. For example, with the component you can easily set how many pieces there will be in a puzzle game or how much time a player has to play a game or how many points they get when something happens. Components allow you to make most of the more common adjustments to the games in minutes or even seconds.

Once I purchase a game, how is the source code deliverd to me?
After you make a purchase we are notified by e-mail. After we verify that the sale is not credit card fraud, we will e-mail you a link so that you can download the source code. We can also deliver the source code directly to you via e-mail attachment if necessary.
If you license games that are not built into our e-commerce system we will upload the games and provide you with a download link.
